Response to Journal Entry Question p.392

There are two pictures that show sculptures, both of which convey the idea of love. The first sculpture depicts a male and a female kissing passionately, the second is the word “LOVE,” with the L sitting on the V, and the O on the E. There are different categories of love, the first sculpture seems to only portray one category. It does not show the love between a mother and her child, or the love that family members or close friends hold. The second sculpture, even though just a word, could represent all types of love. However, the “LOVE” sculpture is in English, which cannot convey the idea of love to everyone. So I believe that the sculpture showing the two people kissing best conveys the idea of love, even though specifically one type, for it can share that idea to a broader audience.
